Privacy Policy
Effective 24 October 2026. Applies to the Kanabit iOS app and this website.
Kanabit is made by Ilya Timofeev, an individual developer. Kanabit has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. All learning content is inside the app and works offline. Your progress (which characters and words you have seen or marked as known) stays on your device and is never uploaded.
What is collected and by whom
Kanabit uses three third-party services. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

We use the same anonymous app user ID across these services so that we can see, for example, how many people who added the widget later subscribed. The ID is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
Tracking permission
Kanabit asks for permission to track under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. If you allow it, Adjust can use the advertising identifier (IDFA) to attribute your install to an ad or a link. If you decline, nothing changes in the app: all features work the same, and only aggregated, privacy-preserving attribution is used.
What is not collected
- No name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location (beyond country derived from IP by the analytics services).
- No account and no password, so there is nothing to leak or reset.
- No content of your study: what you mark as known or not yet stays on the device.
- No data from the lock screen widget leaves the device. The widget only reads content stored by the app.
Retention and deletion
Analytics and attribution data are retained by the services above under their own policies, typically for up to two years, in aggregated or pseudonymous form. Because the ID is anonymous, we cannot look up your data by name. To request deletion of the data associated with your device, email support@kanabit.app from the device, and the app's Settings → Support will include the app user ID in the message. Deleting the app removes all local data, including progress.
Children
Kanabit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the new version is posted here with a new effective date and noted in the app's release notes.
