Acknowledgements
Kanabit's dictionary content is built from open data. The same list is shown in the app under Settings → Acknowledgements, together with the authors of every example sentence.
JMdict
Readings, parts of speech and English meanings of words come from the JMdict dictionary files, property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, used in conformance with the Group's licence (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0). Kanabit's content database, which is a derivative of JMdict, is published under the same licence at github.com (link added at release).
Tatoeba
Example sentences and their English translations come from the Tatoeba Project, licensed under CC BY 2.0 FR. Each sentence is credited to its contributor in the app, with a link to the original sentence on tatoeba.org.
JLPT N5 word list
The selection of N5 words follows the open list maintained in open-anki-jlpt-decks (MIT licence), which derives from the JLPT resources compiled by Jonathan Waller at tanos.co.uk (Creative Commons Attribution). There is no official JLPT vocabulary list; this is a community approximation.
Audio
Pronunciations are synthesised speech generated from the kana reading of each entry. They are a learning aid, not a recording of a native speaker.
Mnemonics
Memory hints for kana characters are written by the Kanabit author.
